The Journeymen

The Journeymen have ceased their travels
and will walk the world no more.
I saw sorrow etched upon their faces
as I watched them from the door

Our world no longer turns for them,
they have no spirit left,
for what they saw, and the hopes they had,
have left their hears bereft.

They howl into the dying sun
and, for us, wish grander things,
for they have worshipped for their deities
and stood before their kings.

And in all the places they have explored
Their wounded souls saw and were sure
that nowhere in the vast blue world
lived a soul that rang out pure.

They found a world of battered wives and babes
where millions had no place
saw Gods children committing murder
Slaughtering any man not of their race.

They watched as empty hearts and minds,
pin-pricked with drugged delight,
watched empty women drown their babes
saw innocence die without a fight.

They tried in vain to rally troops,
their battle-cries went unheard,
No they've no choice but to watch
our bitter end come undeterred.

They weep for us, our Journeymen,
and plead for us to see
that we can be more that what we are,
become the love we are meant to be.

Our Journeymen have passed away
they will roam this world no more
I saw their hearts break and souls erode
as I watched them from the door.

Where I live

This city is a cancer.
Its architecture
a shimmering scab.
There are no sanctuaries left
for heavy souls
trafficked in misery
by pimps and bullies.
I've struggled with Adam,
been the first wife
and the last,
the mother of men
and monsters.
Bound in glorious agonies
to this warted jewel of man.
It's beauty made sacred,
turned grotesquery
in an instant.
Whores burn
on street corners
and even the purest
are cursed to misery
here.

Untitiled

I'm not wanted
I'm not wanted
I'm not wanted
Superfluous to my need
Graciously denied my purpose.
Defaced of understanding
Abandoned to this solitary
Deserted
I'm not wanted
I'm not wanted
I'm not wanted

Drowning

You sank
and for a moment
I couldn't see you
amoung the waves.
Your golden hair surfaced
and I swam.
I remember
the water was dark
and I remember
the stars were beautiful
as I held you under.
I floated
because I was hollow.
Your tears
became ocean
as the moon witnessed
and smiled.

My Love Asleep

There was a night I woke to dreaming
with the moonlight gently streaming,
scheming, through the room.
In bed beside you lay, closed tight,
and in the wicked dead of night
sight had tricked my thinking

Into believing

Passionless and still you lay
the moon made your face ashen gray,
stay, and still you slept.
My heart then trembled deep in fear
for passion, which it held so dear,
'ere I thought was dead

So seeming

Sweetly then you breath in-took
and gently then your shoulders shook,
shook as if in dreaming.
My hand upon your cheek did rest
and mine own cheek upon your breast
blessed you until morning.

After your suicide

I can't express my disgust
at your betrayal.
When you tried to leave me
you tried to leave forever.
I make excuses
but know the truth
and anger makes me wish
I'd left you to your misery.
I can't smile for you.
I still try.
You betrayed my trust
and my love.
Everything is pain
when you are here.
And I hate you for it.

Dreaming ghosts

A silken apparition, you slipped through my fingers,
before I had time to make you real
and your voice echoed through the chambers of my heart
as the fires of my loss grew.
Dreaming dreams of you in silver light
I woke screaming as you died over and over again.
In dreams I thought touching
the gentle underbelly of the rainbow
could bring you back
and so I reached for the stormy heavens.
But wishes like these do not come true,
and rainbows, seen, cannot be touched.
You are gone forever and I had no time.
I wanted to say I love you
and good-bye.
